Is Your Sponge Making You Sick?

REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD REPLACE YOUR SPONGE…

1. IT’S STINKY!
If your sponge has a disturbing odor that just won’t seem to come out then it may be time that it meets Mr. Trashcan. Try to soak it in bleach and hot water and or micro waving in a bowl covering it with water only… if that does not remove the smell you must give it the toss.

2. YOU BOUGHT ONE AND NOW HAVE FOUR!
If your sponge is falling apart, don’t try to scrub with the tiny pieces! Throw the sponges and all of it’s little family members away. It’s definitely time for a new one.

3. THERE IS DEBRIS IN IT
Sometimes things will get stuck in your sponge and easily come out and others get lodged in deep and you feel like you are cleaning with dirt. If your sponge has debris and foreign objects embedded in it’s pores, it may be time to part ways.

WAYS TO PROLONG YOUR SPONGES LIFE EXPECTANCY

1. CLEAN IT DAILY
You have to be a good owner to your sponge. Take care of it by cleaning it daily with sanitizer, bleach and water or even throw it in the dishwasher. Make sure it is wrung out to air dry. Doing so will assure that you are using a clean sponge to clean. It makes sense.

2. STERILIZE IT WEEKLY
Sterilize your sponges and dishrags in a bowl with water covering sponge as follows:
• Cellulose Sponges- 30 sec in microwave
• Wet Sponges¬- 1 min in microwave
• Cotton Dishrags- 30 seconds in microwave
• Wet Cotton Dishrags- 3 minutes in microwave
